What's In The Name Cooper
Street?
|
|
You can't avoid Cooper Street. It travels
for 12.9 miles, slices through UT Arlington
and alongside Arlington High School. It can
take you to the Parks Mall, offer access to
I-20 and I-30, and lead you past some of the
city's most diverse neighborhoods. The
origins of Cooper Street started when
Arlington landowner James Daniel Cooper
allowed drivers to cut through his vast
property en route to Mansfield. Who was
James Daniel Cooper? Read

Cowboys in the City
City and
Team Combine for A Winning
Experience
|
 Whether
its equal access or public access, the
City of Arlington and the Dallas Cowboys
organization are new partners in an
effort to ensure a winning experience
for everyone near and far. At the same
time, preserving neighborhood integrity
around the $1.1 billion venue remains
a key focus area. "It's the day we've
all been waiting for," said Mayor Robert
Cluck, who counted himself among a
record-setting 105,000 fans attending
the inaugural game on Aug. 21. "I am
extremely proud of all the work being
done behind the scenes to showcase
Arlington as a world-class city."

Arlington and Bad
Königshofen to be Honored at German
Pioneer Ball
|
The City of Arlington and a delegation
from Bad Königshofen, Germany, will be
honored at the 47th Annual German Pioneer
Ball for a friendship that has endured five
decades. Every year, the Pioneer Ball
celebrates German heritage and culture in
Texas. This year's gala is set for Oct. 10
in Irving. Arlington first embraced this
small northern Bavarian town in 1951,
providing food and clothing for hundreds of
refugees who traveled over from the
communist east. Our city's contributions
brought a spark of hope to the overwhelmed
community and this sisterly bond continues
today. Learn more about
Arlington's Sister City program or visit
germandayintexas.com for ticket
information.

tax rate remains unchanged at .6480
cents per $100 valuation. Arlington
remains a top employer with a workforce
