What's In The Name
Meadowbrook Park? |
 Meadowbrook
Park has been around longer than any
other Arlington park. In fact,
Meadowbrook Park is bursting with
firsts: first park in the city, first
public outdoor pool, first golf course,
first site of an indoor recreation
center. Many people who use the park's
picnic grounds and 9-hole golf course
think the park got its name from the
neighborhood that surrounds it. Nope.
According to Arlington Historian
Geraldine Mills, the park was there
before the neighborhood.

Connecting With
The Community
At Budget Time,
Residents Say What Matters
|
 Traffic,
public transportation, emergency
response equipment, street maintenance
and cleaner parks were neighborhood
issues brought forth by Arlington
residents attending a Town Hall meeting
Monday night. This month, the City of
Arlington continues to balance the
operating budget for Fiscal Year 2010.
This year's budget process has included
Focus Group discussions and surveys of
City of Arlington employees.
"Discussions like this provide a real
opportunity for us to connect better
with the community and learn what's most
important to them," said City Manager
Jim Holgersson. Read

The City's Doctor
Staying On Top of
H1N1 is a Health Priority
|
 The
City of Arlington Public Health
Authority has never been busier.
Keeping abreast of the current
status of H1N1 nationally, statewide
and in Arlington has given Dr.
Cynthia Simmons and the Office of
Emergency Management a different
kind of urgency. Not a day goes by
that Dr. Simmons isn't in contact
with the Tarrant County Public
Health Department or the Center for
Disease Control to stay on top of
H1N1 activity. Who is Dr. Simmons
and what is Arlington doing to keep
its residents safe?
