Public Places: What's In The Name?
Arlington families have visited Clarence Foster Park in west Arlington for years. Ask many of them who Clarence Foster is and they'd probably draw a blank. E-Arlington is here to help. Public Places: What's In a Name? is a new series of stories about names adorning our parks, streets and buildings we drive by each day. We'll give you the historic lowdown on each place, where it is and what it offers. Curious about your park or neighborhood street? Let us know. We'll try and include it. First up in the Sept. 1 e-Arlington Newsletter: What's in the name Meadowbrook Park?

City Helps to Ensure A Safe Return to Class
This summer, the City of Arlington has worked to ensure a safe return to school as more traffic hits city streets and highways. Traffic patterns are being studied in high traffic areas and signals in school zones are being operationally tested for the first morning of class on Monday, Aug. 24. On Aug. 12, the City teamed up with the Arlington Independent School District to talk about H1N1 influenza and how to slow its spread this fall. "We're here to take some of the fear out of both types of influenza," said Mayor Robert Cluck. Read more about city preparations for back 2 school.
