The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation
Contributions Support More than 30 Programs
This spring, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation is giving more than a half-million dollars in matching grants to programs
that serve the residents of Arlington. This latest grant cycle funds 33 programs, including the "Lose the Training Wheel Program" for children with Down Syndrome, barrier free playground equipment for youths with disabilities and the construction of new playground shade structures at eight city parks. Other funded programs, totaling $570,000, support libraries, arts, literacy, family and beautification. The grants are made possible by royalties derived from natural gas drilling on city property. Click here for full story.
A Life Saver
The Vial of Life Speaks When You Can't
The Arlington Fire Department continues to distribute free Vial of Life Kits to residents and neighborhood organizations. The Vial of Life is a medical information storage kit. According to Fire Chief Robin Paulsgrove, it allows emergency responders to "quickly locate helpful medical history information when minutes count." The Vial of Life is designed for seniors and individuals with serious medical conditions who might be unconscious and unable to speak when medical help arrives. Free kits are still available at all Arlington fire stations or call Fire Administration at 817-459-5500. Click here to learn how it works.

Aide Haile-Marian professed her desire to become a doctor upon arriving at City Hall for her internship as a Richard Greene Scholar.
What she learned is how municipal government works to safeguard public health and safety for its residents and visitors. The Sam Houston High School Senior explored everything from water treatment processes to emergency preparedness and 911 operations. "During my visit to the water treatment plant, I learned about the purification process and how the city works to provide safe, clean water for the public and make sure the water we use will not give us any harm," the 18-year old said. Read her story.
