A Big Night
National Night Out Sets Record with 99 Neighborhood Events

Arlingtonites gathered in such large numbers for National Night Out last week that a city record was set. According to the Police Department's Community Services Division, Arlington registered 99 events, more than any other year. One of the largest gatherings occurred at California Lane Park. "We don't have neighborhoods like we used to," said Dolan Maner, who has lived in Arlington since 1931. "Events like this get families out. It gets people out to talk with their neighbors, police and city officials." Police Chief Theron Bowman said National Night Out is another opportunity to "build stronger partnerships between the police and the communities we serve."
A "Grand" Opening
Music Under the Stars Draws Thousands to Downtown

Under the stars, more than 1,800 people gathered for Opening Night of the Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in downtown Arlington. The night included a dedication and official ribbon cutting.
