PUBLIC EDUCATION

It is our goal to provide the highest quality of service possible to the citizens we serve. It is the intent of our department to establish formal relationships with the communities within our jurisdiction. The aim of this  program is to increase the community's understanding of the activities and roles of this agency and increase the public confidence.

We welcome the opportunity to send a speaker to your location or have your group tour our 911 center.  Speakers are available at no cost for your club or group. For more information on 911 Public Education contact LaDeatra Calton.

Do's For Calling 911:

  • Teach your children how to use 911 wisely in case of an emergency.
  • If you're calling within Arlington's city limits, we encourage you to dial  911 instead of the 817-274-4444 (ten-digit number) for police, fire, or medical emergency services.  The same call takers answer both the 911 lines and the 10 digit lines.  If you dial 911, however, your address and phone number are supplied from the telephone company.  That's not the case for people who dial the 10 digit number.

Don'ts For Calling 911:

  • Don't call 911 when the power goes off or the weather is threatening. Call your utility company, and monitor television and radio for weather information.

  • Don't call 911 to see how much a traffic ticket is or to check to see if someone is in jail.

  • Don't call 911 for directions or for miscellaneous  information.
