COMPLIANCE PROCESS :: PUBLIC EDUCATION

Notice of Violation

The first course of action for the officer is to educate the resident or property owner by issuing a Notice of Violation. In many cases, citizens are not aware they are committing a code violation.

Warning Citation

The Warning Citation serves as a written notice that explains exactly what the violation is and why it needs to be corrected. In most situations, Code Compliance Officers will give a violator a set amount of time to bring the violations into compliance. Officers routinely follow up to check the progress at the property where the violation exists. If, after ample time has been given to correct the violation, the violation still exists the officer may issue a citation is an attempt to gain compliance.
