How do I locate a park or recreation facility near me?

The Arlington Parks and Recreation Department produces a brochure, Guide to Arlington Parks, which contains a comprehensive listing of all parks in Arlington. Call or visit the Parks and Recreation Department for a copy of the brochure. The Parks and Recreation Department offices are located at 717 West Main Street and can be reached at 817-459-5474 or visit the City of Arlington website at www.ci.arlington.tx.us.

What activities does the City offer for kids?

The City of Arlington offers a variety of activities for youth. Recreational basketball leagues and volleyball leagues are offered year round. The City also offers football, soccer, swimming, and music and dance classes.

The Parks Department produces a schedule of activities and classes called Funtimes Magazine. A copy of Funtimes can be picked up at the Parks Department facilities, libraries, and the Municipal Building. The schedule of activities is also available on the City’s website at www.ci.arlington.tx.us.

What activities does the City offer for adults?

The City of Arlington offers a variety of activities for adults. Men, women, and co-ed slow pitch leagues are played six nights a week at Randol Mill Park and Harold Patterson Sports Center. There are many other activities offered at various facilities throughout the city such as rock climbing, swimming, golf, shuffle board, and fishing, just to name a few.

Can my organization use the park facilities for an event?

The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation Department has park pavilions available for rent in seven different parks, including: River Legacy Park, Cravens Park, S.J. Stovall Park, Vandergriff Park, Veteran’s Park, Meadowbrook Park, and Randol Mill Park. The rental rates for groups up to 200 people range from $50 to $150 on a weekend day or $30 to $90 on a weekday. Two weeks advance notice is required for all reservations, but reservations can be made up to one year in advance. Where can I rent a large facility for neighborhood gatherings?

The Arlington Convention Center is available for national, state, regional, corporate, and local groups who may be having a trade show, convention, consumer show, conference, or banquet and provides exhibit halls, meeting rooms, and a formal Grand Hall. To reserve space at the convention center for your next event, call 817-459-5000.

Also available is the Arlington Community Center, which offers three meeting rooms and an auditorium with a stage for public, commercial, or private events. The Arlington Community Center is open Tuesday through Saturday. To reserve space at the community center, call 817-465-6661.

Who do I call to get the playground equipment in our park fixed?

If playground equipment is damaged and is in need of repair, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 817-459-5474.

How can we get more playground equipment installed in our local park?

If you would like to request new equipment for your neighborhood park, call the Parks and Recreation Department with the name of the park and location at 817-459-5474. A neighborhood may also fund specific park improvements by contacting the Parks Department with a monetary contribution.
