ECONOMIC INCENTIVES FOR BUSINESS

Mayor’s Economic Development Statement

Arlington is a business-friendly city, right in the middle of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, that carries on the business-friendly traditions of Texas. Within Arlington, you will find over 100 square miles of our city devoted to business, including five business parks. We hope you will join the thousands of companies that enjoy our hospitality.

Already home to the University of Texas at Arlington, Six Flags Over Texas, and the Texas Rangers baseball team, as well as major operations of General Motors and National Semiconductor, the City of Arlington is working aggressively to attract additional high-quality businesses. Economic incentives that are available include tax abatements for targeted industries, job training resources, triple Freeport inventory tax exemption, enterprise zone incentives, and permit expediting.

In Arlington, Texas, we are in the middle of it all; halfway between Dallas and Forth Worth, and just 8 miles from the DFW Airport. Arlington has experienced rapid growth since 1970 and now more than 332,000 people call Arlington home. We also welcome more than 6.5 million visitors annually.

The City is also home to a strong public school system and was recently cited as the best-educated big city in Texas based on data from the 2000 U.S. Census. More than half of our population is between the ages of 18 and 44.

To learn what incentives the City of Arlington has in place to assist your business, call the Economic Development Office at 817-459-6114 or click here for more information.

Sincerely,

Robert Cluck, MD
Mayor
City of Arlington
