08/07/07

Arlington-based Resonant Sensors, Inc to receive award from the Commerce Department By Pegasus News wire

ARLINGTON — Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology Robert Cresanti will present a “Recognition of Excellence in Innovation” certificate to Resonant Sensors, Inc., (RSI) of Arlington, Texas at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce on August 9.

Chief Executive Officer/Founder Debra Wawro, along with Chief Technology Officer Robert Magnusson, will be recognized for pioneering a new optical sensor technology that can monitor biochemical reactions in real time, with outstanding accuracy and without the need for chemical tags. This differentiating technology will provide new tools for the biosensor market that will dramatically reduce the cost and development time of pharmaceutical and medical products. RSI’s advances have been strengthened by three Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants from the National Science Foundation, and one from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund.

Resonant Sensors Incorporated is a client in the Acceleration Program with TECH Fort Worth, a technology incubator which is a public/private partnership of the City of Fort Worth, the UNT Health Science Center, and several Fort Worth-based technology companies. Darlene Ryan, Executive Director of TECH Fort Worth: "With labs and offices in both Fort Worth and Arlington, Resonant Sensors Incorporated is a good example of multiple communities working together to take technologies from the laboratory to the marketplace, while creating jobs in North Texas."

The Commerce Department Technology Administration’s certificate recognizes local and regional innovators who have introduced a new product or service into the market during the last 12 months, utilized a new manufacturing process within the last 12 months, or received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within the last 12 months.
