Tarrant County Issues 90-Day Outdoor Burn Ban
This week, Tarrant County issued a 90-day outdoor burn. All outdoor burning in the county is prohibited for the next 90 days because of dry grass, lower than normal humidity and gusty winds. Rural residents are asked to mow tall grass and weeds within a 30-foot area around homes and buildings.
At least 162 Texas counties, nearly two-thirds of the state, have issued outdoor burn bans, according to the Texas Forest Service. Other local counties with burn bans include Denton, Ellis and Kaufman.
The Texas Forest Service's Winter 2008 Fire Season Outlook is forecasting warmer and dryer than average weather conditions for January, February and March.
