Tour of Arlington’s Petmate® Facility is Enlightening
City Council Member Sheri Capehart and city staff recently went
on a field trip to tour Arlington’s
Petmate® manufacturing and assembly facility located in the I-20 Business
Corridor. Petmate’s Arlington campus currently employs 580 people,
with a total of 629 employees between its Arlington and Mansfield
locations. Committed to the well-being of pets and the world in
which they live, Petmate®
is one of the world’s largest suppliers of
portable kennels, shelters, litter management products, feeding and
watering products, pet toys, collars and leashes. Visiting the
Petmate® corporate offices has resulted in big rewards for the
homeless shelter animals in Arlington. Many Arlington Animal
Services animals have had the opportunity of modeling for
Petmate® products, six of which were
subsequently adopted into the loving homes of some Petmate®
employees over the past year.
As Executive Vice President of Operations Rich Daugherty guided the
tour through an enormous 700,000 square foot warehouse and a 300,000
square foot manufacturing plant, it was evident that Petmate®
strives to sustain eco-friendly operations by preserving natural
resources through recycling and waste reduction.
Council Member Capehart presented an award of appreciation from the
City of Arlington to Petmate® for their generous support of
Arlington Animal Services through regular product donations.
Animal Services is grateful for the ongoing support and donations of
kennels for pet condos, animal beds, and pet toys that improve the
comfort level of shelter animals and enhance their lifestyle and
living accommodations.
At the conclusion of the tour, Petmate® presented a few pet toys
from their whimsical
Fat Cat brand as
gifts for the shelter animals. Heartfelt compassion for animals was
expressed by Petmate® employee Christina Quezada, who shared with
enthusiasm, that their staff enjoys working in an environment where
pets—including the recently adopted dogs and cats from Arlington
Animal Services—are always welcome.
