Twelve lucky winners have emerged as Pets of the Year for the new
2012 Animal Service Calendar.
A panel of judges have chosen 12 photos from among 186 entries.

Animal Services Board Chair Jerry Tees said selecting the winners
was a daunting task.
“We had so many great pictures,” she said. “It was difficult to
choose the best ones.”
Arlington residents gave a $10 donation to enter a photo of their
favorite pet, which included dogs, cats, lizards, and turtles. The
donations raised nearly $2,500 for the Animal Services Center. Every
pet entry will be featured in the calendar.
What’s Next?
Facebook fans now have until Saturday, Aug. 20, to select the
most popular pet, which will be featured on the calendar cover.
This week, the top 12 winners are getting ready for a free
professional photo shoot at Studio Works in Arlington.
The calendar is a fundraiser for Animal Services Center, which
offers adoptions, licensing programs, field enforcement services and
educational programs to encourage responsible pet ownership. This is
the fifth year for the calendar, but the first time the project has
turned to social media to solicit entries and public participation.
The 2012 calendar will debut in October and will cost $12.
Congratulations to the winners!
