City Holds New World Record for CPR Training

Beginning at 10 a.m., 100 school buses began unloading students for a record-setting event at Cowboys Stadium.

By 11:45 a.m., a Guinness adjudicator officially declared Arlington, TX a new world record holder for CPR training with 4,626 participants.

Until today, Oslo, Norway held the world record for the largest CPR training session with 3,692 participants.

“This world record shows our commitment to increasing knowledge about CPR and growing the survival rates for cardiac arrest victims in our schools, homes and communities,” said Mayor Robert Cluck.

On Tuesday, 4,626 students gathered on the football field at Cowboys Stadium to learn CPR techniques. They viewed an instructional DVD on the Jumbo-Tron that walked them through each step of training, using a manikin to do chest compressions and rescue breathing.

Since the program began, more than 39,135 Arlington residents have been trained in CPR. To learn more about CPR, click here.
