Twenty-eight City of Arlington employees, determined to
lead healthier lifestyles through nutrition and exercise,
reported their results today, and their efforts benefited a
local charity.
As part of the six-week Lose For Good campaign sponsored by
Weight Watchers, their 275-pound combined loss equated to a
donation of 579.6 pounds of food, which was delivered to
Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex.
Ellen Brooke shed 38.8 pounds. Angie Summers dropped 26
pounds. Jill House lost 20 pounds. Karen Coan lost 64.8
pounds. Arlington resident Kim Matlack, the Weight Watchers
Ambassador, dropped 104 pounds.
One by one, they entered City Hall today with the food
amounts equivalent to their lost pounds. They’re goal was to
donate 275 pounds of nonperishable food, one pound for each
pound lost. When all was collected and weighed, these
employees more than doubled their goal.
Weight Watchers’ Lose For Good is in its second year as a
national campaign that fights hunger by encouraging weight
lost through proper eating and exercise.
“This is fabulous!,” said Mayor Pro Tempore Lana Wolff, who
along with Mayor Robert Cluck, read a City proclamation in
honor of the group’s efforts. Wolff has lost 22 pounds and
Cluck has dropped nearly 35 pounds since changing their
lifestyles earlier this year.
Workforce Services Manager Leeann Shackelford said
participation in the Lose for Good Campaign was made easy
with on-site workshops and meetings. Participants attend
Weight Watchers at Work sessions where they learn about
nutrition and how to maintain weight loss. Today, their loss
is Mission Arlington’s gain.
