City and Cowboys - Together for a Winning Experience

Last week, Dallas Cowboys officials met with representatives of the Mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities to discuss game-day accommodations for the hearing and sight-impaired, and ticket holders with special mobility needs.

Throughout the city, planning meetings to discuss everything from public safety and traffic to crowd management and neighborhoods continue to bring key officials together daily to review action plans.

Whether its equal access or public access, the City of Arlington and the Dallas Cowboys organization are new partners in an effort to ensure a winning experience for everyone.

At the same time, preserving neighborhood integrity around the $1.1 billion venue remains another key focus area.

“It’s the day we’ve all been preparing for,” said Mayor Robert Cluck who counted himself among a record-setting 105,000 fans attending the augural game on Aug. 21. “I am extremely proud of all the work being done behind the scenes to showcase Arlington as a world-class city.”

Arlington Fire Chief Robin Paulsgrove said many of the processes being implemented are becoming best practices throughout the special events industry.

“Significant change is here to stay,” Paulsgrove said after Monday night’s Cowboys win over Carolina. “We're working together and recognizing the importance of our visitors and guests.”

There’s more to come. The NBA All-Star Game will attract national and international exposure when it is played at Cowboys Stadium on Feb. 12, 2010. It will be broadcast throughout 247 countries in 43 languages. Click here to see a special NBA All-Star presentation to the City Council on Sept. 22.
