Brave Combo turned 30 this year, but they show no signs of
mellowing - thank goodness! That's just one of the reasons they will
be opening the Levitt Pavilion's 2009 free Fall Concert Series at
7:30 p.m. Sept. 24.
The Levitt Pavilion's opening weekend continues on Sept. 25 with the
smooth, sultry sounds of singer/songwriter Alex Cuba from Artemisa,
Cuba, now a resident of British Columbia.
At 2 p.m. on Saturday, the kids can sing along about life, happiness
and purple ducks with Eddie Coker, who has entertained more than a
million children nationwide. That night, at 7:30 p.m., the Levitt
Pavilion welcomes legendary Texas troubadour Ray Wylie Hubbard.
Opening weekend concludes at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 with one of the
great jazz trumpet players of our time, Terell Stafford, performing
with the University of Texas at Arlington Jazz Orchestra.
The Levitt Pavilion's 2009 Fall Concert Series runs through October
25. Concerts are Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.
with Children's shows at 2 p.m. on Saturday. All Levitt Pavilion
concerts are free and family friendly. Guests are seated on an open
lawn and are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, picnics and
coolers to enjoy the outdoor concerts.
A complete Fall Concert Series calendar is available on the Levitt
Pavilion Arlington's Web site,
www.levittpavilionarlington.org. The Levitt Pavilion is located
in Founders Plaza at the intersection of Abram and Center streets,
directly across the street from City Hall. There is free parking
available all around Founders Plaza.
