Pink Granite Sculptures Return to Arlington’s Landscape

The first of five pink granite sculpture groupings were set into place today along Johnson Creek in Richard Greene Linear Park across from the Cowboys Stadium.

Once all 22 pieces are installed, City officials say Caelum Moor will enhance public art in Arlington. The stone monuments range in height from 8 to 30 feet. Some will have water features. All will be lit for night-time viewing.

Artist Norm Hines of Claremont, Calif., was on hand to witness Tuesday’s history-making moment.

“I am excited to finally see Caelum Moor visible again,” Hines said during interviews with the news media. “This is public art that people can enjoy and appreciate.”

Richard Greene, who served as mayor from 1987 to 1997, joined Tuesday’s event and said he was pleased to see the re-birth of Caelum Moor. Greene said he was proud to see the sculptures placed in the linear park that bears his name.

“These sculptures will be the environmental centerpiece for an area that will attract more than eight million people a year,” he said. “Today is another great moment in the history of our city.”
