City Accepts Donation for Animal Services Center
This week, the City of Arlington accepted a donation from a local
veterinary clinic that will save lives and improve the adoption rate
for animals at the Animal Services Center.
Arlington city officials say the CBC (complete blood count) analyzer
will help on-staff healthcare professionals in evaluating symptoms
and diagnosing health conditions of sheltered animals.
The equipment, which is valued at $10,000, was made possible by
Creature Comforts, an Arlington-based veterinary clinic. Doctors
Barry Brier and Chris Jenkins joined the City for a brief
presentation on Friday at the new center, which opened this year at
1000 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd.
“The Animal Services Center has received broad-based community
support, and this donation from Creature Comforts is another
wonderful example of community partnerships,” said District 2 City
Council member Sheri Capehart.
“The goal is to adopt more animals to permanent homes, knowing as
much as we can about the health of the animal for a successful
adoption,” she said. “We are grateful for this much-needed donation
and for all the relationships we have with animal caregivers in our
community.”
