Arbor Day Fun is Saturday, May 9
Every family who attends Arbor Day on Saturday will receive a
free tree! Arlington's Arbor Day Celebration is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May
9, at Richard Simpson Park, 6300 W. Arkansas at Lake Arlington.
Urban Forestry and Land Manager Heather Dowell said trees around the home or
business can help save energy costs. During the winter months, trees can also
help to reduce heating bills. Trees not only help to beautify the environment
and moderate temperatures, but they improve air quality.
Arbor Day kicks off with the Third Annual Adventure Race followed by fun
activities for all ages, including bounce houses, an obstacle course and
environmentally friendly games. Kayaking and canoeing will occur at the lake.
