Police Seeks International Re-Accreditation
Public Comment Period Begins Aug. 25

In 1989, the Arlington Police Department was first accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. and has since been re-accredited every three years.

Arlington is one of only 36 state agencies to voluntarily commit to CALEA’s international standards for administration, operation and technical support.

That re-accreditation process is once again underway.

“Our department’s foremost concern is safety and security of Arlington,” said Police Chief Theron Bowman. “Through this process, we are working to strengthen crime prevention and improve overall service quality to the community.”

Out-of-state assessors will begin arriving next week. The re-accreditation process also includes input from employees and citizens. Learn more at www.arlingtonpd.org.
