PAWS 2005
A Campaign to Build a New Animal Services Center

What is PAWS 2005?

A fundraising coalition of:

  • Pet Rescue Society, Inc.
  • Caring citizens and business owners
  • The City of Arlington

What is the PAWS 2005 Mission?

Raise the necessary funds to construct and sustain a new animal services center that:

  • Incorporates state-of-the-art design, facilities and equipment in order to provide a safe haven for the animals of Arlington.
  • Serves the residents of Arlington by providing the highest standards of animal care and customer service.

What is the PAWS 2005 Goal?

Raise $300,000 in private donations and pledges by December 2004.

Did You Know that in 2003…

  • Arlington Animal Services responded to over 16,600 calls for service, adopted 2,526 companion animals to new homes, reunited 935 animals to their owners and released 1,481 wildlife back to their natural habitat?
  • The aging existing animal services center has limited animal housing capacity, deteriorating equipment and outdated design features?
  • The voters approved a $2.67 million bond fund to renovate the existing Animal Services Center, located at 5920 W. Pioneer Parkway?
  • A national animal shelter consultant recommended construction of a new facility versus renovation of the existing one, resulting in an estimated $300,000 shortfall of the proposed budget?
  • The City owns property in southeast Arlington designated for the site of the new animal services center?
  • The City Council has authorized the construction of a new animal services center IF private donations of at least $300,000 are secured prior to December 2004?

Features the New Animal Services

Center will Include:

  • Onsite spay/neuter wellness clinic
  • Adoption "greeting rooms"
  • "Cat Condos"
  • Latest design and equipment innovations
  • Education and Community Room
  • People-Friendly and Animal-Friendly Environment
