Several Ways To Give

New Animal Shelter Construction Fund

On February 1, 2003, Arlington voters approved the sale of bonds in the amount of $2,665,000 for the purpose of animal shelter improvements. The City Council has approved the construction of a new Animal Services Center to be located adjacent to the new Southeast Library Branch at 900 S.E. Green Oaks Blvd.

A new facility will allow for onsite spaying and neutering, offer family adoption rooms, educational facilities, increase the health and well-being of the animals, improve community awareness and promote the adoption of approximately 11,000 animals placed in our care each year.

New construction would cost approximately $578,000 over the bonded authority. Specific cost-saving and revenue-enhancing measures have been identified, leaving an estimated funding gap of approximately $300,000.

If you are interested in making a donation to meet the anticipated $300,000 funding gap, please complete the donation form and forward along with your donation. The form is available in PDF format, requiring the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Memorial Gifts

Arlington Animal Services memorial gifts are wonderful ways to remember the lives of individuals who cherished the human-companion animal bond, or a companion animal family member who changed the lives of those he or she loved. We will send your personal message to the recipient within 5 business days.

If you are interested in being a contributor, please print our donation form. The form is available in PDF format, requiring the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Buy A Brick Paver

For a $100 donation you can purchase a brick paver to memorialize or pay tribute to your pet. The brick can be personalized with choices for wording and a logo. The brick pavers will be used as a commemorative walkway to assist in funding the construction of a new animal services center.

Dog Park Construction

The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation and Animal Services, in conjunction with R.U.F.F. (Responsible Unleashed Fun for Fido), a non-profit organization, are soliciting funds for the construction of a dog park.

A dog park is a place where people and their dogs can play together. As the name implies, these places offer dogs off-leash play areas while their owner can enjoy the park-like setting. Amenities, such as fencing, water, parking, and even grass, vary greatly among these places, but ‘off-leash’ and ‘park’ are the key elements that dog owners desire.

For some dog owners, a dog park may provide the only opportunity for owners to socialize with other people and their dogs. For many people, visiting a dog park is a primary source of recreation. The ability to share activities with canine family members at a dog park is important, and increasingly recognized by cities. The recognized use of city and county maintained dog parks is growing at an amazing rate around the country, and these parks can provide an excellent venue for animal adoptions, providing information on low cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, microchipping, dog training, and other information related to keeping canines happy and healthy. Dogs contribute immeasurably to their family’s quality of life, thus helping to foster a sense of community for everyone.
